Dryads are embodiments of the natural world, and some believe they are nature spirits given physical form. Whatever the truth, dryads are humanoid in shape yet their form reflects their natural habitat. Their skin appears bark-like, and their hair resembles fine twigs and leaves.
Dryads dwell in groves at the secluded hearts of the oldest and deepest forests. They are strongly bound to the trees of their grove and often stand as custodians of the woodlands. Long lived, peaceful, and patient, dryads are often reluctant to leave their groves, and can be disinterested in the troubles of other races. However, they have been known to form lasting friendships with those of other races who share their world-view and earn their trust, particularly among the elves. They are fiercely protective of the lands and people they care about, and implacable foes to those who would damage their woodland homes.
